Once again the father has cancelled tomorrow’s visit, 12th November. I got a text message from the visiting centre this evening: ‘Sammy is now ill and tomorrow’s visit is cancelled.’
Nobody knows who is looking after the children. Are they with the Fillipinos? Will the father still go to work? Has a doctor seen them? What’s wrong with them? I have no idea. The judge, Susanne Gottlicher, laughed in my face last year that ‘I have no right to any information because the father has full custody.’
This is in blatant contravention of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child:
Both parents share responsibility for bringing up their children and should always consider what is best for each child. Governments should help parents by providing services to support them, especially if both parents work.
Children should not be separated from their parents unless it is for their own good. For example, if a parent is mistreating or neglecting a child. Children whose parents have separated have the right to stay in contact with both parents, unless this might harm the child.
As a family court judge, I am certain Susanne Gottlicher is aware of these laws. In which case, why is she deliberately flouting them?
